If the car fits only when you shuffle bins around, choose storage by what you need to reach and what the garage can support. Wall shelves and tracks keep everyday items close. Overhead racks can free wall and floor space for seasonal bins, but only where the ceiling structure and clearances suit the exact rack. A product's stated load rating does not tell you what an unknown wall or ceiling can hold.

Test the layout with the garage in use
Park the car where it normally sits. Open its doors and hatch fully. Raise and lower the garage door, then look at the door panels, tracks, opener rail, light fixtures, storage cabinets, and any access needed for equipment. A rack that clears a parked roof can still block the moving garage door or an open SUV hatch. A wall hook may fit on paper yet leave no room to lift a bicycle down.
Measure usable wall width, the depth available beside the car, ceiling height, and the proposed storage footprint. Photograph the whole wall and ceiling, plus close-ups of any visible framing or masonry. Mark the garage door's travel and the highest point of the open hatch on those photos. Keep access to doors, controls, electrical panels, and equipment clear.
For a small Charlotte garage, start with the items you touch weekly. Put those within easy reach. Seasonal bins can go higher only if the lifting height and installed rack make sense for the household. This is a use decision, not a rule that every garage needs overhead storage.
What can the wall or ceiling actually support?
The product manual specifies its approved attachment method, hardware, and rating conditions. It cannot certify your particular framing. A track on drywall over studs, a track on concrete block, and a ceiling rack fastened to joists are different jobs.
