TV Mounting Appointment Checklist for Charlotte Homes
A TV mounting appointment goes more smoothly when the screen, bracket, wall and cable plan are reviewed together. Before choosing a Charlotte appointment, gather the model details and a wide wall photo. You do not need to drill test holes or move a heavy TV to prepare. This checklist explains what to send, what to keep ready and which decisions should be settled before installation day.

- TV model, size and safely accessible label photo
- Bracket model or product link, with its hardware and instructions
- Whole-wall photo showing the proposed position and existing outlet
- Cable, soundbar and old-mount removal requests
- ZIP, building access rules and a clear work area
1. Confirm the actual TV and bracket models
The screen's diagonal measurement is useful, but it does not establish compatibility by itself. Send the TV model and the bracket's model number or product link. The TV's weight, mounting-hole pattern, required screws and any model-specific adapters need to suit the bracket. A box that advertises a range of screen sizes is only the beginning of that check. Follow the exact TV and mount instructions rather than transferring a screw choice from another television.
Keep the mount hardware bags, spacers, wall plate and instructions together. If you are reusing a bracket, mention missing pieces or an unknown model before the visit. Do not assume screws left in the wall suit a new TV or location. If the screen is boxed, photograph the label you can reach safely. Tell us if you need a bracket supplied, so its compatibility and separate material cost can be reviewed before an appointment is confirmed.
2. Describe the wall without guessing what supports it
Send a straight-on photo that includes the whole wall, nearby corners and the intended TV position. Share anything you actually know about its construction. Drywall over wood framing, drywall over metal studs, plaster, solid masonry and decorative veneer call for different attachment decisions. A painted surface does not reveal the full wall assembly, and a stud finder reading alone does not explain every concealed condition.
The chosen mount must permit the attachment method for that wall. Some mounts require separate manufacturer-approved hardware for metal studs, while others do not support that application. Do not predrill holes or buy anchors based on a generic weight claim. Full-motion brackets also need their permitted wall attachment and room to move. If the wall construction cannot be established, discuss an assessment before treating the request as a ready-to-install standard mount. Your Charlotte neighborhood or building age cannot confirm the supporting structure.
3. Decide where the screen should sit in the room
Sit where you normally watch TV and consider the proposed screen height. Measure the space using the television's full width and height, including any soundbar below it. Painter's tape can help visualize the outline on a suitable surface, but the final position also depends on the bracket and available attachment locations. Keep cabinets, door swings and nearby shelving in the picture.
For a moving bracket, think about the screen throughout its travel. Will it reach a side wall, cover an outlet or pull cables tight? Say whether you want the screen centered on a wall, a cabinet or the main seating position; those can be different points. Above-fireplace requests need their own review of the fireplace, TV and mount requirements. Send the full fireplace and mantel layout before buying a pull-down mount or choosing a high installation position.
4. Map power, signal cables and accessories
Show the existing outlet and where the console, receiver or streaming device will sit. List what connects to the TV, including a soundbar, game system or antenna. Cable length and access behind the screen matter once the bracket is installed. Keep remote controls and the cables you intend to use available for the visit.
Describe the result you want from cable management. A surface cover and a suitable concealed signal-cable route are different jobs. Wall access and the cable type must be reviewed before concealment is agreed. Adding or relocating an outlet is separate electrical work to arrange with an appropriate electrical provider. Do not assume mounting includes a new power connection.
If an old TV needs to come down, include that in the request. Removal, old-hole repair, paint and mounting a replacement are separate tasks to confirm together. The wall behind an existing bracket may need review after removal.
5. Confirm the Charlotte price and appointment scope
FixCraft VP's current starting price is $100 for a straightforward standard TV mount up to 55 inches. It is a starting scope, not the price for every screen and wall. Larger TVs, full-motion brackets, masonry, fireplaces, soundbars and unusual layouts can change the estimate. Cable concealment is quoted separately after checking the wall, outlet location and possible route.
Related handyman add-ons during the same visit are billed at $95 per hour. General handyman labor has a one-hour minimum. All prices are for labor only; materials are separate at actual receipt cost. Confirm any bracket or cable-management purchase before it is made. Our TV mounting cost guide explains the pricing in more detail.
Ask for the expected appointment length after the setup has been reviewed. A simple mounting request and a visit involving removal, cable work and wall repairs need different scheduling. Share a delivery deadline or move-in date before choosing the slot.
6. Get the room and building access ready
Clear small belongings from the work area and discuss heavy furniture beforehand. Leave a usable path from the entrance to the TV wall. Keep children and pets away from the installation area during work. Gather the TV, bracket, instructions and accessories in the room without lifting or unboxing a heavy screen solely for preparation. Tell us if the TV is already mounted or stored on another floor.
For a South End apartment or SouthPark condo, confirm drilling permission and any building work-hour, parking, loading or elevator rules. Send the actual requirements; they vary by property. DIY may suit a manageable TV and a compatible mount when you can establish the wall construction and follow both manuals. An uncertain wall, difficult lift or fireplace location deserves review first.
